ソニーマーケティングはHDD搭載オーディオプレーヤー「NW-HD5」を発表、4月21日より販売する。40時間のスタミナ再生が可能なほか、デザインも一新されている。価格はオープンだが、実売想定価格は3万5000円前後となる見込み。

ユーザーインターフェイスも一新され、液晶下の十時操作キーと、その周囲の4つのボタンで操作を行なう。検索モードはArtist/Album/Track/Genre/Playlistの5モードを用意。新たにメニューボタンで、トップメニューに戻ることができる「1ステップサーチ機能」を搭載したほか、プレイリスト機能の強化や、イニシャルサーチ機能の搭載などで検索性を高めている。

ソニーは、銀座ソニービル(東京都中央区銀座5-3-1)全館を使った「WALKMAN × Mora Sony Building Jack Promotion」を、7日より開始した。5月15日まで開催する。
「Walkman Records」と称した特別企画を行ない、ビル外壁に巨大広告を掲げ、会場エントランスやビル内、ショールム各所もネットワークウォークマンの広告で埋め尽くされる。
また、1Fには「ネットワークウォークマン体験コーナー」が設けられ、2005年春モデル5機種17モデルを、実際に手にとって音楽を聞くことが可能。さらに2Fでは、「Mora」から楽曲をダウンロードしたり、実際に楽曲を購入することができるようになっている。
